Vanderbilt University’s Information Technology department is looking for a temporary web-based Application Programmer with a Full Stack Development background to support different learning based projects for various departments across the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

Initially, the Programmer would lend support to a department by working on applications for interactive teaching tools in math and science.

  • Work to create collaborative and collective learning applications.

  • Interactive teaching tools.

  • Standard website development

  • Application programming and full stack web development.

  • Attend staff meetings, touch-point meetings, project meetings, and possible consultations for new projects.

  • Will also contribute to the programming and development of solar projects and various databases.

  • Will be working closely with research faculty members to gather requirements.

Profile of an Ideal Candidate

Our hiring team is looking for a creative individual who is self-sufficient and has the ability to take initiative on various projects with little direction from research faculty members. Ideally, this individual will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • 3-4 years of hands on work experience in web based application programming and web development is required.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is required.

  • Full Stack Development

  • Heavy Front End Development experience

  • Familiarity with Back End database development/programming.

  • The ability to work and communicate with individuals who are both technical and non-technical.

  • Experience working in a client facing environment is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with JavaScript/Node.JS is required.

  • Some experience with Python, css & html is required.
