The pay rate for Retail Market Clerk is $13.40/hr. Flexible schedule is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Retail Market Clerk:

  • Greet customers entering the dining retail locations.

  • Assist customers with questions and provide accurateinformation on Vanderbilt Campus Dining meal plans.

  • Assist in ordering products for markets; stock shelvesand mark prices of merchandise.

  • Unlock or lock any retail location; which includesmanaging the alarm systems.

  • Check expiration dates of products and remove allexpired items from store shelves – record information on waste logs.

  • Operate a Micros register and follow micros handbook.

  • Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices.

  • Assist with duties in other areas of the store, such asmonitoring stock levels and maintaining equipment needs such as yogurtmachines and coffee equipment.

  • Adhere to Vanderbilt Campus Dining cash handling anddeposit procedures.

  • Receive merchandise, check in vendors and signinvoices.

  • Monitor customers for theft and follow the properreporting; report any known theft by dining employees

  • Provide quality beverages consistently for allcustomers by adhering to all recipes and presentation standards.

  • Transport food to appropriate location for storage asinstructed by HRMC or supervisor, correctly exhibit items for viewing andsale.

  • Monitor refrigeration temperatures and report allproblems to management

  • Maintain quality and sanitary standards of State andCity Health Departments and Vanderbilt Campus Dining codes.

  • Follow all safety and sanitation standards set by VanderbiltCampus Dining

  • Understand Vanderbilt Campus Dining Meal Plans and havethe ability to explain the guidelines of the plan to students and faculty.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Maintain temperature logs and take temperatures of foodregularly and record data as instructed by management.

  • Maintain quality and sanitary standards of State andCity Health Departments and Vanderbilt Campus Dining codes.

  • Maintain clean and orderly work area and complete othergeneral cleaning duties, such as mopping/sweeping floors and emptyingtrash cans and clean equipment.

  • Report to management any safety hazards and equipmentin need of repair.

  • Assists in keeping the kitchen, refrigerators and storerooms sanitary and orderly by cleaning utensils, equipment, fixtures andwork areas.

CustomerService:

  • Work in a team-driven environment, take direction,offer direction and assist with problem-solving.

  • Greet customers entering dining location and followFRESH customer service guidelines.

Physicalrequirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. regularly

  • Ability to bend, stoop and kneel while stocking shelves
