The Laboratory of Genetic Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology is seeking an energetic and self-motivated Laboratory Research Assistant who will work in a dynamic, collegial research environment. This position will support faculty and research associates with tasks related to biological anthropological research on genetic ancestry and women’s health disparities.

Duties andResponsibilities

  • College-levelunderstanding of human genetics and some experience in basic Laboratorytechniques (e.g. pipetting, preparing reagents, PCR)responsible for basiclab management including

  • Ordering labsupplies

  • Equipmentmaintenance

  • Laboratorysample analysis

  • Aid in basicdata management and preparation of reports.

Profile ofan Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor'sdegree is required.

  • Goodorganizational skills are critical.

  • Must knowExcel, PowerPoint, and have working knowledge or be prepared to learnbasic bioinformatics.

  • Travel tofield sites and conferences in the US and the Caribbean maybe required, so the successful candidate must hold a valid passport.

  • This is a part-time position. The position entails 24 to 28 hours aweek.
