Position Summary :

The Graphic and Media Designer is part of the Vanderbilt University Information Technology (VUIT) Transition Management team at Vanderbilt University and is an individual contributor responsible for overseeing and facilitating the production of a wide array of creative materials for print and digital materials. This role will create designs and art elements for high-level projects throughout VUIT.

About the Work Unit :

Vanderbilt University Transition Management Team, a division of VUIT, provides strategic and day-to- day operational support for the transition related projects across both VUIT and VUMC IT. One of the most critical pieces to the transition's success is the ability to communicate and share information with the Vanderbilt community as a whole.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:

  • Generates motion graphics animations for web and video projects.

  • Implements post-production into live action footage.

  • Creates highlight videos for business ideas and concepts.

  • Uses animation to make complex ideas easier to understand.

  • Produces concepts, designs,layouts, videos, and illustrations for a varietyof communications materials.

  • Presents and producesnew and innovative ideas for utilizing design in the digital space.

  • Edits and refines designs and related art and text until a successfulproduct is achieved.

  • Collaborates with projectmanagers, clients, and others to discuss ideas, note any alterations,budget limitations, deadlines, etc. before beginning production of materials.

  • Produces infographics and related spotart.

  • Adheres to project deadlines and maintains clear and constantcommunication with project managers.

Experience and Skills :

  • Experience designing for video and motion graphics capabilities is necessary.

  • Proficiency with Adobe After Effects, Premier, Photoshop, Illustrator,and Flash is necessary.

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in motion graphics, graphic design,marketing, or with an agency is preferred.

  • Knowledge of principles andpractices of graphic design is stronglypreferred.

  • Ability to create and producegraphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment is stronglypreferred.

  • Ability to communicateeffectively, both orally and in writing is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of graphic layout and photographic requirements andprocedures is strongly preferred.

  • Skill in the utilization of specified computerized graphic designprograms is strongly preferred.
