Vanderbilt University Data Coordinator - Part-Time, Term in Nashville, Tennessee

Please note: This is a part-time, term position.

We are looking for a part-time Data Coordinator for the Vanderbilt Stress and Early Adversity (SEA) Lab, a fast-paced highly collaborative interdisciplinary research group exploring child development, the early caregiving environment, brain development during period of dramatic change, and interventions to improve child and family functioning.

Under the supervision of the Lab Director, Dr. Kathryn Humphreys, the individual in this position will have primary responsibility for data management across several studies. Data management responsibilities include curation of study data for students and collaborators, development and oversight of data management processes and documentation, data related reporting requirements for funders, and data cleaning and coding activities. The ideal person would have 1-2 years of experience working with data in a research environment. Reporting directly to the Director, the Data Coordinator will contribute to advancing the organization's goals focused on the generation and dissemination of research and training the next generation of researchers.

This position is open to being remote.

NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Duties and Responsibilities

Data management:

  • Develop and maintain repository of data analysis scripts

  • Establish data management, quality control, and data sharing processes

  • Curation of datasets for Lab Director, collaborators, students as needed

  • Serves as a resource for staff and students for data management and statistical analysis queries

  • Responsible for all data related reporting requirements for funders

  • Manages and oversees coding and MRI data processing teams

  • Ad hoc analysis support for papers or grant applicants as needed

  • Develop and maintain repository of lab-wide processes and documents related to data management and analyses

  • Assist with study reporting activities, as needed, including project reporting

Supervisory Relationships

Depending on need, this position may have supervisory responsibilities for students and research assistants in the lab; this position reports administratively and functionally to Dr. Humphreys.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelors degree or currently pursing a Masters degree in data-related field (e.g., Data Science or Quantitative Methods) is required. Directly equivalent experience can be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

  • Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, and able to function well independently

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Experience with data management activities (e.g., data curation, quality control)

  • Experience working in R preferred

  • Ability to work independently and under deadlines

  • Ideally will have at least 2 years of experience in a research environment

  • Expected to have a strong work ethic, high integrity, and good interpersonal skills
