We have four openings in our Office of Arts & Campus Events for the following positions:

·Photography Arts Instructor

· WatercolorArts Instructor

· PotteryArts Instructor

·Printmaking Arts Instructor

The Office of Arts& Campus Events (ACE) mission is to facilitate and promote diverse programming for the Vanderbilt and Nashville Community that cultivates social engagement, cultural enrichment, artistic exploration, and intellectual growth. ACE works closely with students, faculty, and staff from various academic departments and centers to coordinate programs for the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities with the goal of fostering and sustaining a culturally rich environment that provides participants with opportunities to understand and appreciate the value of art in their lives. The Office of Arts & Campus Events (ACE) includes the major arts and social programming committees on Vanderbilt’s campus: the Vanderbilt Programming Board< >, Sarratt Art Studios< >, Sarratt Youth Art Institute< >, Vanderbilt Dance Program< >, and the Vanderbilt Performing Arts Council< >.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction to meet students’ needs and aspirations

  • Explain and demonstrate artistic techniques

  • Observe and evaluate pupils’ work to determine student progress and make suggestions for improvement

  • Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences

  • Ensure classrooms are stocked with adequate supplies

Profile of an Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art or Art Education is required

  • 2+ years of experience teaching creative arts, with the ability to perform and teach lessons in a class setting is required

  • Prior experience in establishing creative environments in which art is explored, discovered, and observed both in and out of the classroom is required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and staff is required
