The Cook supports the chef in a variety of functions. This position butchers meats, chops vegetables, prepares sauces, weigh and measure ingredients for cooking. The cook maintains an organized and sanitized work area at all times. This position will provide delegation to cook assistants in the kitchen.

We have 4 main dining centers, 10 restaurants and cafes, 5 convenience stores, and we employ over 350 employees.
Follow written production sheets and recipes
Complete production/waste sheets as assigned
Identify production needs based on unit/arearecipes and pars
Lead by example and follow customer servicestandards outlined in the employee handbook
Works in a team-driven environment, takes direction,delegates tasks and assists with problem-solving
UnderstandsVanderbilt Campus Dining Meal Plans and has the ability to explain theguidelines of the plan to customers
Safety and Sanitation:
Maintainsquality, safety and sanitary standards of State and City Health Departments andVanderbilt Campus Dining codes
Maintainsclean and orderly work area and complete other general cleaning duties
Reportsto management any safety hazards and equipment in need of repair
Profileof an Ideal Candidate
Ability to read Vanderbilt Campus Diningdocuments with or without accommodations
Complex recipe execution to include advancedculinary language, techniques and ingredient identification
Cover, date and correctlystore all food items as per safe food-handling procedures
Advancedknife skills (responsible for cutting proteins)
Abilityto lift at least 50 lbs. regularly
Abilityto bend, stoop and kneel
